We have a part-time school counselor who provides support for our students and families. She facilitates class meetings in which the students build a supportive atmosphere and learn necessary skills for working together responsibly and cooperatively. The school counselor also uses the class meeting time to present the school’s personal safety program. She organizes friendship groups in the primary grades which focus on social skills, is available to meet with parents and students to discuss particular concerns, and sees individual students at the request of teachers and parents. Our counselor is a tremendous support not only for our students, but also for our teachers and parents.
